WYE AND USK FOUNDATION APPROVED GUIDE

UPDATED 4th MARCH -- RIVER USK

This is a site dedicated, first and foremost, to the River Wye (the Welsh Wye, not the Derbyshire one). It is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful rivers in Britain (quite a claim, I know) and this website is a homage to the river and its fish.

Please take a look around. If you would like to give me your opinions, or comments, on the website, or would like to know about fly fishing on the Wye, guiding or any fishy matter relating to the river; then please feel free to contact me.

I’m not a great salmon fisher, so apologies to those who were looking for information on this magnificent fish. However, for enthusiasts of trout and grayling, there are photographs and information on the fish and the beats.

I should add that as well as my love of the Wye, I fish the Avon and the brooks that feed that delightful chalkstream. In addition I do ‘sneak off’ whenever I’m able to chase bonefish and tarpon in Cuba. So there are some photographs and information on this spectacular form of fly fishing. Please take a look, If nothing else it might give you alternative ideas for the winter.

The Wye and Usk Foundation (WUF) is the place to gain information about the river (and its many tributaries and the Usk system). There are currently more than 70 beats available through WUF. The variety is terrific: -- from tiny streams to the main river; from gentle mayfly infested brooks to wild rapids, rich in caddis. I encourage everyone to try their hand on this wonderful river.
